Mark Kerruish

Written by manya
January 25th, 2012

I, Kristen Mason and Michael Kretschmer signed up last year (2011) to do the TESOL course with a Mark Kerruish from Tesol S.A. – or at least we thought we had but soon realised after our second lesson that this guy who was running the course was not in fact who he initially portrayed himself out to be and was in fact miss- representing himself as a member of the TESOL SA institute. We subsequently lost our money when he realised our concerns and dissatisfaction with his capabilities to teach us this course and fled to China with our R9, 500. This left a bad taste in our mouth and myself and Mike felt rather put off from what had started out as an exciting and new adventure in doing a TESOL course to learn how to teach English abroad in Thailand. The C.T. TEFL/TESOL Inst. offered us a lot of advice in what to do and how to get our money back and in the meantime they offered us an opportunity to begin their TESOL course. We would like to warn any prospective students about Mark Kerruish and before signing up for a course, to visit the premises and meet the staff.

WARNING for TEFL/TESOL Courses

Written by manya
September 14th, 2011

It has come to our attention recently that there are many places offering TEFL/TESOL courses as online and discounted courses. Please be aware that online TEFL/TESOL courses are not generally accepted at EFL institutions. Before deciding to do a course, make sure that there is a physical address, a landline telephone number and a registered business with permanent physical business address. The lecturers and trainers should also clearly list their qualifications on the TEFL/TESOL website. There are more and more fraudulent individuals trying to market their products via the internet.

English in a Cape Town winter

April 20th, 2011

Winter is coming up in a month or so and while we have our winter rainy days, Cape Town is still a great destination. There are days for the beach (yes), for walks up Table Mountain, visiting our winefarms and of course, doing a quick, intensive course in English.

How to register for our English course.

Students often have many questions about the procedure to follow when thinking of studying abroad.

Firstly it is important to contact us, via email. We will send you all the necessary informtion, the registration form with the price list. This list will show the group class prices and the costs for private lessons.

Students then need to complete the registration form and return it to us. If you need assistance with a study visa, we will require your passport details and the date you wish to start with  your studies and for how long you will be in Cape Town doing your study course with us.

The next step will the the payment for the course. Thereafter we will assist you with the Letter of Invitation which you will need to apply for a study visa from the South African Embassy in your country. It is possible for some students to travel to South Africa on a visitor’s visa and apply for a study visa here in Cape Town. The procedure is similar. In both instances you will need medical cover, proof of accommodation and funds to support you during your stay here. The Embassy may require extra documents as well.

For further information on this process, you could email our office.
